Konami surprised the gaming community at the State of Play event tonight by suddenly announcing Silent Hill: The Short Message, free-to-play for PlayStation 5. The most surprising thing wasn’t even the announcement of the game.
The free Silent Hill game was released as soon as it was announced!
The game tells the story of Anita, who, after receiving messages from her friend Maya, finds herself in an alternate dimension in a rundown apartment building rumored to be haunted by disturbing events. As Anita investigates mysterious areas haunted by twisted monsters, questions arise about the true nature of her quest.
Free-to-play Silent Hill: Short Message utilizes the latest gaming technology to deliver a modern Silent Hill experience. No one expected the game to launch on PS5. So it was a big surprise.
The game deals with sensitive themes such as self-harm and horror violence. The protagonist, Anita, wanders through The Villa, an apartment building in present-day Germany, trying to solve the mystery of her friend Maya’s fate.
Silent Hill Free features intense scenes, such as Anita exploring a bathroom that contains disturbing images like a bathtub filled with bloody water, blood-splattered tiles and a razor blade on a bloody sink.
Despite the heavy subject matter, the game encourages players to seek help and support if they are at risk, or to offer help to those in need. Despite all this, it’s ironic that the game has an MA15+ rating. If you’re a PlayStation 5 owner, you can add Silent Hill: Short Message to your library, download and play it right now for free.
